Khajuraho Temples or the Temples of Love were built during 950 to 1050 AD by the Chandelas who used to rule this area.  The astounding beauty of Khajuraho Temples allures millions of tourists round the year.  These groups of Khajuraho temples are entirely Hindu, and constitute some of the finest examples of Chandela art at its peak.  The world famous Khajuraho temples were built by the Chandela kings between 950 AD and 1050 AD.  The most important are the Chaunset Yogini Temple dedicated to Goddess Kali , The Mahadev Temple , Chitragupta or Bharatji Temple with a lovely image of 11 headed Vishnu, Vishvanath and Nandi Temples, Lakshmana Temple, Visha Temple of Shiva, which is the largest and most typical of temples.  The Khajuraho temples are made of sandstone.  Right through the Mughal invasion and the early British forays into India, Khajuraho temples in India remained unknown.  Brahma and Hanuman Temple -  The temple is among the oldest of all Khajuraho temples.  Mostly temples are associated with religiousness and sanctity.  The city was the cultural capital of Chandela Rajputs, a Hindu dynasty that ruled this part of India from the 10th to the 12th centuries.

Nalanda University has been designated as an "institution of national importance".  Nalanda University was the prime center of Buddhist learning in ancient India.  The Nalanda University is planned to be as in times past, a great seat of learning, scholarship, philosophy and statecraft.  Government of India decided to share this proposal with the leaders of the East Asia Summit ('EAS').  Libraries have been part of the world, including South Asia, for centuries.  India has initiated steps to introduce the Nalanda University Bill 2010 in the Parliament.  The university is being established as a regional initiative under the aegis of EAS.  At the EAS Summit held in Thailand on 24-25 October 2009, the EAS member countries issued a Joint Press Statement which, inter-alia, supported the establishment of the Nalanda University as a non-state, non-profit, secular and self-governing international institution with a continental focus that will bring together the brightest and the most dedicated students from all countries of Asia.  The State Government of Bihar quickly adopted the visionary idea and consulted the Government of India on the way ahead.  It also began its search for a suitable location for the new Nalanda University.  The Tang dynasty ruled C from 618 to 907 a.

Within the Sri Meenakshi temple complex, housed in the 1000-Pillared Hall, is the  Temple Art Museum .  The Meenakshi temple and   the others can be covered in a span of 3-4 days.  Just north of the Sri Meenakshi Temple, before you get to North Avani St, the daily vegetable market is a labyrinth of bustling laneways strewn with aromatic herbs and vegetables.  No text can do justice to the Meenakshi temple.  The tourist office organises half-day sightseeing tours that include the Tirumalai Nayak Palace and Gandhi Memorial Museum, and finish at the Sri Meenakshi Temple.  Madurai  known as the 'Athens of the East' and "city of nectar", Madurai is the oldest city in Tamil Nadu and was home to the ancient Tamil Sangam, the literary conclave that produced the first epic, Silappathikaram.  Meenakshi Sundareswar Temple is dedicated to Sundareswar (form of Lord Shiva) and Meenakshi (form of Goddess Parvati).  Synonymous with the rich cultural and architectural heritage of South India, Sree Meenakshi Temple beckons a traveler to delve deeper into the colorful Hindu mythology.  The annual solemnization of the marriage of Meenakshi with Lord Sundareshwar (Shiva) is one of the most spectacular temple festivals at Madurai's famous Meenakshi temple in Tamil Nadu.  This vast tank, 5km east of the old city, covers an area almost equal to that of Sri Meenakshi Temple and is the site of the popular Teppam (Float) Festival, held in January/February, when devotees boat out to the goddess temple in the middle.  After breakfast leave for Madurai.  There’s a nightly  sound-and-light show  which can be fun at the Tirumalai Nayak Palace the mosquitoes and people carrying on conversations throughout come at no extra cost.  Madurai teems with cloth stalls and tailors' shops.
